The Faculty is located in Building 1. The Dean's Office is in Room 123. Later the Faculty will remove to Building 8 in Chernyakhovsky Str., 2.

The Faculty history originates in the interfaculty Chair of Political Science and Sociology. Due to the Chair initiative the University obtained licences for training specialists on political science and sociology. The grand opening of the Faculty took place in 2003, but already in 2002 the first students had been enrolled for education on the speciality "Political Science". In 2003 one more speciality - "Sociology" was opened at the Faculty.

Education on the speciality 020200 "Political Science" presupposes deep knowledge of history, political and legal theories, social development and political management. Graduates with this speciality will have a broad political outlook and knowledge of basis of political management. This opens up possibilities for them to work in state power structures, research centers of social and political problems. Specialists in Political Science can provide political consulting as in private so in state structures. Besides, graduates with this speciality can work as teachers of Social Science at schools, gymnasia, and other institutions of secondary special education.

Since 2003 the Faculty has been enrolling students for the speciality 020300 "Sociology". Graduates from the department "Sociology" can work as analysts, provide management consulting, develop social projects and programs, carry out applied sociological and marketing investigations. They will obtain:

• deep theoretical knowledge on basic scientific disciplines (sociology, political science, psychology, economics, etc.);
• skills of work with a computer and procedures of sociological measuring.

Besides, it is planned to train specialists on the specialization "Regional Study" (consulting technologist on regional development). This will allow graduates to work in state authorities and local autonomous bodies.

In the frames of the united Faculty of Political Science and Sociology students on Political Science can get the second speciality on Sociology, and sociologists - the speciality on Political Science.

The growing level of scientific and educational proficiency of the Faculty workers has allowed opening at the KemSU of the Post-graduate Courses and Dissertation Council K 212.088.01 on Political and Sociological Sciences, where theses are yearly defended by post-graduates and competitors from Tomsk, Novosibirsk, Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo and other cities. In 2002 the Doctoral Courses on Political and Sociological Sciences was opened. The Faculty plans to open the Doctoral Dissertation Council.
